Paris Michel Levy Freres 1871 Three-Quarter Leather Very Good
This is part of the "Scenes from Parisian Life" ("Scenes de la vie parisienne"). First edition, in French, of the three stories published together (they were written between 1833 and 1835). These are the stories of Ferragus, La Duchesse de Langeais and La Fille aux Yeux d'Or. They were stories that were circulating in Paris during Napoleon's time. Balzac has dedicated some of these stories to Frantz Listz and Delacroix. Lovely three-quarter red leather, with rest in marbled boards and free endpapers being marbled too. Gilt decoration and lettering on spine. Slight rubbing to edges. No marking inside; a very clean tight copy.
