We specialize in first editions (many signed by the author), antiquarian, rare, collectable and out-of-print books. Our special interests include mountaineering (including books by and about Sir Edmund Hillary), polar exploration, art, photography, travel, literature, literary movements such as the Bloomsbury Group and the Lost Generation in Paris, Military History, Churchill, Biblio Mysteries, golf and cricket. We have a large collection of art books covering various art forms (paintings, sculpture, photography, stained and decorative glass and much more). Some of these books are collectable and have been signed by the author or are unusual association copies. Our stock is regularly replenished and some of it can be viewed below or in our Art Section and Photography Catalogue. Auction catalogues are excellent resources for every collector. A selection of auction catalogues can be viewed here. Helmut NewtonHelmut Newton , who unfortunately passed away in 2004, was particularly noted for his nude studies of women. His style of erotic, stylized scenes often shocked. It did not bother him. We currently have in stock two signed first editions of Newton’s books, Archives de Nuit and Dr. Phantasme . They would make a remarkable addition to any collection of photography books or simply be a unique gift.
Signed First Editions and other collectable booksWe always carry an interesting selection of signed first editions which is regularly increased with new material. You will find them set aside here . We have also a wide selection of rare editions of books, beautifully illustrated books and specialist books which can sometimes be hard to find.
We have more than books; we have also collectable photographs (for example of famous ballet dancers and explorers) which would look particularly attractive framed. They make original gifts.
Patrick O'Brian
We are avid readers of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin tales as well as his biographies. We try to keep a good stock of first editions of his work. Our current stock can be viewed here . We are always on the lookout for more first editions and we encourage you to check regularly this category for new collectable material.
