The author was married to a diplomat. She spent her life on four continents and was determined to visit and explore Persia, which she eventually did with her husband. This is her account of this adventure and of the tribes she meets. In particular, Ullens de Schooten was fascinated by the Kashkai, which were the most famous of the nomadic tribes. They came to Persia in the 13th century and their name is thought to come from the Turkish meaning of a horse with a white star on its forehead. With maps and numerous B/W photographs taken by the author. Undated but probably 1950's.
