Hyne Title The Wild-Catters - a Tale of the Pennsylvanian Oil-Fields Binding Decorative Boards Book Condition Very Good Size 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Publisher London The Sunday School Union Illustrator H. S. Greig Seller ID 000816 A rare book with an unsual tale. Wild-catters were prospectors who went to a new region and sank a well on the off-chance of striking oil. Decorative red board with a picture of a wild-catter, gilt lettering on cover and spine, and gilt edges all along. With ten illustrations by H. S. Greig. With 16 pages of the publisher's catalogue of "elegantly bound books" (like this one).. Undated but the story takes place in the 1880's. No inscription, no previous owner's name but one front endpaper is missing. Cover at spine is starting to get a bit loose an there is some wear at top and bottom of spine from use, but a very good clean copy indeed of this scarce book.
