The author describes his trip to the Spitzberg in early 1940's. He fell in love with the region and its people and gives great detail of their way of life and the fauna and flora. The book is illustrated by 42 line illustrations and 2 maps of the region by L. Loge and 40 photographs taken by the author. The cover is illustrated by Chas Bore. This edition has been bound in half -leather by the publisher, with gilt lettering and decoration and marbled covers. Page 43 has a small tear (but no loss). This is a very good copy of this book which,as far as we are aware, has not been translated into English. No previous owner name or other marking.
